Batangas students take part in the Science Film Festival held at Tumba-Tumba
Ibaan, Batangas — On the afternoon of November 7, Sto. Niño Elementary School's 5th and 6th grade students gathered at the Tumba-Tumba Children's Museum of Philippine Art for the 2024 Science Film Festival.
The Science Film Festival celebrates science communication in Southeast Asia, South Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America. This is organized by the Goethe-Institut and through partnerships with local institutions. This event creates discussions on science, technology, and the environment through international films and educational activities.
The students watched Ananas Anam: Wearable Waste. This film shows the innovative use of pineapple waste as eco-friendly textiles. The children learned about how objects typically regarded as waste material can be repurposed and given new life.
The students also participated in a two-part workshop. They learned how to make pinwheels after a discussion about renewable energy with Rolls Royce. For the second part, they applied what they learned from the film by creating their own fashionable pieces out of recycled materials and objects from nature.
Thank you to Goethe Institut for partnering with us for this fun-filled event!
