AJA Law celebrates fourth anniversary with bookgiving events
October 17, 2024 — Rodriguez, Rizal
Alcantara-Joaquino-Alantara Law, also known as AJA Law, partnered with us once more for their fourth-anniversary celebration! This time, we donated books to not just one but two beneficiaries!
Our first stop was San Isidro Labrador Elementary School (SILES) in Rodriguez, Rizal. Representatives from CANVAS, AJA Law, and the office of Congressman Fidel Nograles, Representative of the 4th District of Rizal met with the Principal and teachers of SILES for a short program.
112 copies of Karapat Dapat and two sets of our hardbound books were turned over to the teachers. These donations will be utilized in their Barangayan Para sa Bawat Bata Bumabasa (BR-B4) program, which supports learners behind in reading and reading comprehension competencies.
November 15, 2024 — Alabang, Muntinlupa
CANVAS and AJA Law joined forces one month after the first bookgiving event for the second one at Tuloy Foundation Inc., a street children village in Alabang. Around two hundred kids gathered at the gym for the Friday afternoon program. Whenever they passed by guests, they smiled and greeted, “Good afternoon po!” They lent several helping hands with the setup by putting out chairs and tables.
The program kicked off with a prayer and interpretative dance to “You Raise Me Up” by Josh Groban, which the kids perform for guests who visit Tuloy. They watched a short video about human rights, and then actively participated in the activities prepared for the day. They engaged in the discussion about rights; happily danced to the chorus of “Salamin” by BINI together with members of AJA Law; read a page from Karapat Dapat in unison; and drew on their copy of the book!
Many gifts were in store for Tuloy, from copies of Karapat Dapat , to sets of hardbound books for their library, and school supplies (donated by AJA Law).
The program closed with a sing-along to “We Are the World” by Michael Jackson. Everyone then lined up for snacks and refreshments.
We thank AJA Law for another year of partnership! It’s an honor to celebrate your milestones with you while we also pursue our goal to give away more books to children in the Philippines.
