Writer Tanya Sevilla Simon wins 31st Romeo Forbes Children's Story Writing Competition
The Center for Art, New Ventures, and Sustainable Development is pleased to announce the results from its 31st Romeo Forbes Children's Story Writing Competition. Tanya Sevilla Simon won forty-five thousand pesos for her story Emong and the Ear.
Congratulations also go to Christopher Rosales for his story Sa Iisang Batya which was selected as a Finalist. A total of 87 entries, all based on the artwork by Edrick Daniel, were received for this competition.

Climate change activity book for kids now available online
“I am the Change in Climate Change,” an informational activity book on the environment hopes to make a difference. Geared towards six to 12-year-olds, its pages are filled with child-friendly illustrations, age-appropriate language, and interactive activities. The book encourages children to learn about climate change: its definition, causes, and effects.

The new #YOUThink in Cebuano is a project by Google and the Center for Art, New Ventures, and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) in celebration of National Language Month.
Book launch: Silim, Prinsesa ng Dilim
At an exhibit featuring the artworks by Luis Lorenzana for the story “Silim, Prinsesa ng Dilim,” the book written by Mark Joseph Bacho was launched on July 16, 2021. A winner of the Romeo Forbes Children’s Story Writing Competition, this mythological tale touches on contemporary issues of diversity, tolerance, and finding beauty and pride in one’s identity.
CANVAS’ UP Vargas Museum Exhibit Open Till 30 July, Kids Can Learn How To Stay Safe Online
As many kids now have their own gadgets, they must be taught about how to keep themselves safe on the Internet. This led the non-profit organization Center for Art, New Ventures and Sustainable Development (CANVAS) to open the art exhibit Tumba-Tumba: Stories and Spaces. This exhibit which aims to promote a safe internet world for kids was launched on 11 June. It will run until 30 July at the University of the Philippines (UP) Vargas Museum.
Book launch: A Bridge for Silay
A special project with Agay Llanera and The Working Animals Art Projects, A Bridge for Silay was launched at the opening of the exhibit for the artworks. Ronson Culibrina, the creator of the artworks for this exhibition and publication, resides on the island that inspired the book.

The National Privacy Commission’s 4th Privacy Awareness Week Awards named the Safe Space: A Kid’s Guide to Data Privacy children’s learning material as the Privacy Initiative of 2021.
